3-Ingredient Cheese Recipes

Cheese is possibly one of the most versatile ingredient in cuisine all around the world, from Italian pasta to French cheesecakes, you're sure to find a cheesy dish in any restaurant or fast food outlet near you. But something you may not have realized is that the big block of regular cheese sitting in the back of your fridge extends way beyond just a grilled cheese sandwich on lazy afternoons! I'm going to show you 3 different ways you can turn that hunk of old cheese into a tasty dish without costing you your whole week's shopping allowance, as all these recipes consist of just 3 ingredients!

1. Cheese Twists

Throwing a get together with friends? Or possibly want to impress your parents next time they come to your place? These crunchy appetizers are the perfect snack to get your appetite going and make your coffee table look fancier.

Ingredients:

  • cheese - tasty, colby or any other basic cheese you have will do
  • puff pastry - you can find this in the freezer section at the supermarket
  • 2 - 3 eggs
Method:
  1. Lay out your pasty on a flat surface and cut into 2 inch strips long-ways
  2. grate cheese and add a generous layer along the middle of the strip
  3. starting from one end, pick up the end and twist the pastry into a spiral until you reach the end
  4. whisk eggs and brush over top of pastry twist
  5. put twists in a preheated oven (180c) for about 10 minutes or until golden
Make sure you let them cool before you transfer them to another plate, bowl ect.

2. Mini Skewers

Keeping with the party theme, these cute little skewers will be a party hit and you guests will be left speechless that they hadn't thought of this great idea!

Ingredients:
  • cheese
  • olives
  • deli meat - eg. salami, ham, or anything you fancy
Method:
  1. using small bamboo skewers, thread through an olive
  2. cut block of cheese into 1cm squares, then thread through after the olive
  3. fold piece of cold meat into approximately 2cm size and thread through at the end
These go great with crackers and dip!

3. Fancy Cheese Melt

This one is great if you have any leftover veggies such as tomato, avocado and eggplant at home, because it is so tasty and takes only 5 minutes!

Ingredients:
  • sliced bread
  • cheese
  • leftover vegetable
Method:
  1. slice up your vegetable to 0.5 cm slices, copy with cheese
  2. place on toast and transfer to a baking rack
  3. place in a conventional oven at 150c and grill for 5 minutes or until cheese has melted
Et Voila! Who said you couldn't be the chef of your own kitchen?
